Hi
I am new to lexus and this site, have problem with moon roof, checked fuses all ok. So removed overhead light and accessed motor, the motor had been disconnected and the drive teeth all stripped. My question, has anyone had similar problem and what sort of job is it to repair also any idea on costs ?
The car is 2006 GS300
Cheers
Ken
Not a common problem first ive heard of this happening. If the teeth on the sunroof motor are stripped then replace it with a new one. If the price of new is too high look for a used motor in your local salvage yard or order of ebay.
Hi Ibidu1
Problem not a straight forward a it first appears, I can pick up a motor/drive for not a lot of money here in UK, however it has stripped the teeth from what appears to be two drive belts and I know the drive belt/wires are silly money!.Plus I have no idea how to remove them, do you need to remove the whole sun roof to replace them?
Cheers

If the toothed strips are damaged then yes it would most likely be easier to replace the whole assembly. If your tracks are fine, then I you can replace the motor and lube the strips and the tracks should do it.
