New to Lexus... Exhaust diameter?
Hey guys...
Just bought my wife a 2006 GS300 AWD with 120k on the clock. Its been very well maintained... had new rubber, new brakes, and most of the maintenance done.. 20% tint.. Hardly a scratch on. Picked it up for 10,500 out the door from a dealer.
Anyways... it does have a few little issues... Already replaced the fuel cap due to a weak spring.. No big deal there...
Now I have the common AWD exhaust leak from the heat shield area. Does anyone know off the top of their heads the size of the pipe for this section? I had read the rear section after the cats was 2.25 but didnt know if the front matched. Planning on cutting it out and welding in some new tubing for the time being along with cleaning up the rest and giving it a nice coat of BBQ black paint (I've had good luck with it battling rust on other non stainless exhaust components I've made up in the past).
Anyways... thanks guys. I'm sure I'll have more questions in the near future as there are still a few other little bugs to fix.
Any other common big problems that come up with this model year? The car seems to drive great.. very smooth. Smooth idle.. shifts decent (a little sluggish at light throttle compared to a sports car.. but very crisp at WOT)...
Just changed the oil (went with Mobil1).. Checked everything over. Planning on flushing the coolant, brake fluid, and changing plugs soon. Also planning on calling the dealer and seeing what they would charge to do a full trans flush or change it a bit at a time myself.. (Never have been a fan of the flush machines).
Anyways...

Huh... Why is my original post not showing up?
Anyways, yeah I'm needing the diameter of the pipe that comes off the manifolds where the heat shields are located (common rot area).
So you're thinking 2.5"? Can anyone confirm?
Thanks!
