I know why because i fixed it. I'll give you a hint, it's not something common.

Crazy...happened on rear left tire - broken knuckle right where the lower control arm meets the knuckle. Bushing was broken and basically got pushed out - so control arm was riding on the bolt! Discovered when my friend and I changed my struts last weekend. Must have happened this past winter with all of the potholes

Yikes. How the heck did that break there? Hit a curb?
Today(after finishing my coffee) I'm replacing entire front strut from top to bottom, bushings, ball joint etc. After 100k it's just my preference to get a set of new suspension is parts. Next up at 125k water pump hoses etc. Fun day!

Deep pothole.

That's smart. I did mine at 130k and could have done them sooner. You compressong the spring yourself? If so, be careful

just curious why it took you 15k miles to notice the issue? Do you not rotate tires 5-7k miles? I mean, 2/3rds of the tire is basically bald. That kind of wear would be noticeable after a couple of thousand miles, I would think.

Good question. I rotate every 7500 miles. It was noticeable but i thought it was from over inflation. After i rotated, It progressively got worse so i knew something was up

so...was that the only tire that showed abnormal wear?! I mean, wouldn't the tire you moved to the position with the broken knuckle also show improper wear?

Ah. That'll do it. Damn potholes. I was thanks. Springs are no joke.
