Default center console and gearshift lighting?

I just purchased a 2007 gs350 awd, with 67k on clock. I noticed at night when my headlights on and everything, that all the round buttons on the center console and the gearshift lever letters are not illuminated. Is this how it was designed, or are they just out.
By the way, all the buttons work.
Thanks for your help fellas

All of them should be lit, and the odds of them all going out together is pretty low. I would start by checking to see if you have a blown fuse.

If I am not mistaken, there is only one bulb in there that lights up everything. Attached are the instructions on how to get under the panel. Pg 7 has the GS.

On the shift **** area yes, there should be only one bulb but he also mentions the round buttons which i imagine are the buttons on either side of the screen in the dash.

In that case, I don't think they are all on the same fuse, but that would be the easiest place to start looking for the problem.

Default shift console not illuminating

Just purchased nice 2005 lexus ES 330 good looking vehicle.Noticed when I went to store last night the shift console light was not lit up. I don't know if it has to be illuminated. If the shift console should be illuminating, please let me know. I looked through the manual, could not find any info pertaining to the issue. Every thing works on the vehicle. I checked fuses under the console and in the firewall. Everything seems to be working fine. Anyone with this issue please respond. Thank you for your time on this matter

You did post this in the GS forum as opposed to the ES forum. Just worth mentioning.

Yes it should illuminate. I have attached a picture of my '06 ES so you can see. The actual path that the shifter travels in is lit up, too. If you unscrew the shift ****, that whole piece just in front of the cupholder all the way to the ashtray comes out in one piece. Be careful as you lift because there are a couple harnesses (cigarette lighter, rear shade button and possibly one other). I'm not sure if they're incandescent bulbs or LEDs as I haven't had to replace them. I did take my whole console apart to clean it after I bought it. Lexus OCD striking again And of course, congrats on the new Lexus!
