Default TPMS warning light on while using stock lexus rims..why??

So I was running stock Lexus 17' rims on my 2008 350 RWD. The time came to replace the tires and I thought- instead of shelling out hundreds of dollars, why not use my brother's set for free (his stock 17' rims from his 2006 GS300 RWD were just lying in the garage taking up space). They were also 17's. So, I swapped all 4 out, stock rims included. Drove around for a bit and noticed the TPMS warning light came on. Not the low pressure light, but the actual warning light. This happens every day. The car is fine driving the first 15-20 miles but after that, the light always eventually goes on..then it's magically reset when I start the car the next day. Does anyone know why this is happening? Tried calling my local Lexus parts and service but all I got were busy signals...

those tires sensors were programmed on the gs300, and when you put them on to the gs350, the tire sensors arent registered to your car. you'll need to visit a tireshop, toyota/lexus dealer, or someone who has a tpms registration tool to register them to your car

on the passenger side glovebox / footwell theres another button to register 2nd set of wheels. try placing it in the 2nd position (but i do believe the sensors still have to be registered first) more of a convenient for winter set up so you dont have to keep re registering when you switch.

oh wow I didn't realize you had to register the sensors. I thought they'd just work since it's both cars were the same body style and tire size. thanks for the info guys!

Yea they have to be registered in order for your car to recognize them.
