Default Front sonar acting up, help!

my 06 gs 430 with roughly 55k and driven 1-2 times a week, if that, has an issue. While moving my car today my front sonar was indicating as if something was in front of it. Not sure why this is happening because everything is fine on the bumper. Is there anything I can do to resolve this issue?

Clean it, get any crud out of the rubber gasket surrounding the sensors. Problem solved for me every time it happens so far.

You say clean it, do you mean just wash the car or pop out the sonar sensor itself?

Clean the sensor, you don't need to remove it - good god that would not be worth it.

i have the same issue. oddly enough this only happens during the summers when it gets really hot. i turn the sensors off for a week straight and then it goes away. i'm gonna try binaryjay's suggestion of cleaning around the rubber gaskets too (thanks binaryjay!)

Same thing was happening to me. After I changed out my bumper, they put the same sensors in my new bumper and everything seemed to work perfectly. Every once and a while it will sound, but then I clean it real quick and it goes away. One time it was a bug that was stuck on it , lol.

What can I say, I'm a never ending repository of information on cheap hacks for expensive problems with this car... this is what happens when you try to be smart with your money (somewhat) and drive the same car for way too long.

My personal feeling is that the two forward sensors in the front are plain and simply badly placed. I don't know about your neck of the woods but it seems it is really easy to get them nicked by flying stones on the highway. The sensors gather up as much stone chips as the rest of the bumper and after the surface is sufficiently deformed they stop working. New gen GS models (and other cars) do not appear to have the two front sensors placed where they are on these cars, likely for that reason. That and the sonar based technology, if they are gonna put something so finicky right at the front of the car, what do you expect. a radio (radar) or laser based sensor is probably more resilient.

Use a toothpick or plastic knife to really get in around the rubber gasket to get dried up wax, bugs, sand.

Cleaned my ride and they still are acting up. My car stays clean so I really don't know what it is with those sensors

Check to see if the rubber part is damaged. Any lil cut will cause it to act up.

Is really that sensitive? I just find it really odd if it's true. I work at a Toyota manufacturing plant, we build the tundras and Tacomas, but never have I heard the sonar being so sensitive. I'll try what you suggested and update you guys. I believe it's the ones in the center of the bumper. My other side sonars are working when they are close to an object.
