Question Body Control Module

Hello,
I was hoping to get some help with an issue I'm having. I have an 06 GS300 and I was hit from the rear. Some body damage but nothing major. After the accident, I parked the car for about a week and then tried to start it. It wouldn't start. I had it towed to a shop and they said the "body control module" was bad and it had to be taken to the dealership. I find that hard to believe and I'm looking for a 2nd opinion. Any thoughts? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

I find it hard to believe too!

But who knows, it may happen, and you can have this written up under insurance if you're going through insurance.

I know the body control module has problems on these GS', not often but it happens.

What's the purpose of the body control module? Does it act like stability control, and how come it would prevent the car from starting up?
Thanks!

I believe that controls everything. Your brakes, the way your car starts, all that stuff. It's everything on your car that the ECU does not control, I believe it includes your airbag deployment system too, not sure as I've never really did much research into it.

FWIW OP, I told my buddy local to me, to take his car to the dealership, and switch out the body control module for his brakes with another GS'. Sad to say, the dealership couldn't diagnose a problem that I had a hunch on. He purchased a new body control module after finding out that was what it was, and was a happy camper since.

Xxgokouxx you were pretty spot on. It seems to be the hub for all the car's electronic components

^^ Seems legit in description if anyone else has any questions
