Default 0W20 oil in 3GS?

I went to Lexus for an oil change, they put 0W20 in the car when I asked about it, they said it is the same synthetic they use in the RX350.... I am not sure what to think, I have always been a believer of putting what the cap says.

My '07 GS calls for 5W30, as I assume yours does (I don't know the year of yours). And yes, my wife's 2010 RX calls for 0-20. In addition, the dealer would use conventional oil in mine, bur synthetic in my wife's.
I do my own oil/filter changes, and use 5-30 synthetic in mine. My service advisor recommends the use of synthetic in mine, and also said, like my wife's, it can go 10k miles between changes.

i have always used synthetic in the past and previous cars... and I do oil changes myself. The GS is CPO, so the first oil change is complementary, when I went in they told me they use conventional oil on the GS, when I asked for synthetic they said no problem and I pay to cover the extra cost. I assumed it would have been fully synthetic 5-30. After the service was done, the advisor said that they used the bulk synthetic they had for the RX so there would be no extra cost.

Dont get me wrong, I am happy with with the service and the use of synthetic, but of all the things I have been OCD about, oil viscosity has never been one of them... so I have no clue what it means for engine life, fuel efficiency, driving style etc. I was just wondering if anyone else uses 0w20 in their GS and what is the reason, if it is "better" then I would use this oil in my own oil changes on this car. I always thought of 0w20 oil as something that goes in civics with their vacuum cleaner engines that rev so high all the time

I spent hours reading an article someone posted from a Ferrari forum on oil....LONG read, but good. Based on this article, current newer car recommendations, and other forum info I'm running Full Synthetic 5-20 in my GS430.

oh wow, my derp. its a 2GR-FSE (2010 350 AWD), for what its worth on the oil question... I put on about 100km (60 miles) a day most of it (80%) freeway and I like to drive hard. Winter here is asinine cold and Al Gore owes me some global warming

My next oil change is soon... Should I try 0-20? Its going to get warm soon.

5w-20 vs 0w-20?

0W20 oil in 3GS?-wiu4ah4.jpg

My GS460 took 0W-20, according to this you should use 5W-30 or 5W-20

soo... the engine will just burn through the thinner oil faster I guess... The chart is odd though since the 2GR-FSE is also in the IS350 as well as the newer GS, and chart says 5W30 only and the latter is is 0W20 respectively... I am really confused what the differences in oil are in terms of what it actually does when it is in there (i get it is a viscosity rating for cold and running engine, but I am curious what functional impact it has)
