Default New 2007 GS350 Owner

Hey guys I just purchased a 2007 Lexus GS350 AWD. The car has 26k miles on it and one owner before me. It was serviced here at a local Lexus dealer in town. I am torn on if I should purchase the extended warranty/s the Lexus dealer is offering. I just have to let them know today.

One is a Lexus warranty and the other is Fidelity JMA Plat. Both cover everything expect tires, brakes etc. The most important for me was the electronics/gaskets being covered and they are under the Plat Fidelity JMA and Lexus warranty. Not knowing a whole lot about these cars do you think it is worth spending the $1500-1700 on a 4/48 or 5/60?

All I am thinking of is one thing can go wrong electronic wise and you can hit that $1,500-$1,700 in repairs quick.

Thank You

I bought one for my 2007 gs430. Had the car three months and a rear wheel sensor went bad....our so they told me when looking for another VSC issue. $150 to diagnose and $600 to replace. Cost to me was $100 because I spent the $1500 for the warranty. This was the first time I've ever bought an "extra" warranty for anything. Hard to advise one way or another. Really depends on your situation. Usually I wouldn't do it, and thats why we bought the Lexus over the others. So far no regrets here though.

I know the guy never drove it and it stayed in his heated garage. The nice thing was before I bought it local I called the Lexus dealer and they know the car as soon as they pulled VIN up. They said buy it. Only issue with low mileage is when things sit things like gaskets brakes etc crack and seize. This one he said he did bring in every 3-5k or every 12 months for oil which is good.

I agree it is a crap shot. I just did not know if there was any well known issue with these cars that you can almost expect to happen. I have owned Porsche, MB, BMW and Audi’s in the past and this time for a family car I pulled the trigger on the Lexus just because of reliability. Once I got in the car and noticed all the electronics the extended warranty I was not going to buy because it is a Lexus lit up in my head to buy.

Sounds like it is one of those some people have no real troubles and others can have one or 2 things go wrong that eat up the $1500 in one or 2 visits. I guess it may make sense to get the warranty even though I bought the Lexus thinking I would not buy a warranty.

I am sure once I get more familiar with it I will have some questions.

I paid $22k for it. Not sure if that is a great deal but it looked fair for what it is. I liked the 1 owner, 25k miles and serviced at my local Lexus dealer where it was bought. Just gives a better piece of mine. It is also loaded with every option that was available.
