Default AFS button

Not sure if something is wrong or what not. I puss the AFS button to turn them off but no AFS warning lights come on. When I start up the car the head light does auto adjust so that's fine. But if you press the button isn't the AFS light should to come on? Also does the headlight only move when your driving? Tried to turn the steering wheel left to right and it doesn't move.

only moves when your driving. if your going like 10mph you can swerve left and right and you should see the lights follow the road.

It was an option on some years of the GS. You may have the AFS button, but not have AFS which moves them left and right when turning corners while over a certain speed. All models will go up and down.

Ahh got it. If its equipped then if the button is disabled the warning light should come on. Thanks!

I've only noticed it actually doing anything like once or twice when driving in the middle of nowhere with no road lights in the middle of the night.

Let me clarify:

If your car is equipped with AFS, upon pushing the AFS OFF button, an amber AFS OFF light will illuminate on the dash. AFS will be disabled until you push the button again. While this dash light is illuminated, the lights will not swivel left or right.

If you press the AFS OFF button and no light appears on your dash, your car does not have AFS.

Your car must be running to test for this (maybe you can be in ACC mode but I'm just going to error on the side of caution and say engine running, I don't have my 3GS anymore.)

Really? I always noticed it moving up and down and side to side albeit more of the side to side while turning left than right since it swivels 15° turning left and only 5° turning right.

I don't realize anything and I have the option, I don't know, but if I were to miss that option, I wouldn't really notice it.

If I am not mistaken, AFS is part of the package. The other parts are rain-sensing wipers and headlight washers. You either have all three, or nothing at all. My 2008 has the AFS button, but no package, so pressing the button does nothing.

This option on 3GS is a POS, very hard to notice it, but very easily when I drove 2010 RX.

I just got my car back from the bodyshop and they disconnected the battery. How do I reset the AFS? The light is constantly on.

I was toggling the button on and off tonight. I can't tell the difference. I've had my 06 GS430 for 2 years and never knew I had this option. If it does something, I've never noticed it. I was in a Buick Enclave recently that had it and it was very noticeable.
