Default Moonroof Jammed?

Hi all,

I searched high and low for info on this, so I think I have a good one.

My moonroof (2006 GS300) was never setup to auto as I am learning I could have done now. This wouldn't be a problem except when I retracted the moonroof all the way back it would make a few clicks and the passenger side would stop while the drive side would continue motion for a half inch. I usually catch myself and stop, but this time I didnt and now the unit wont act right at all.

After using manual force to help it along, it now only travels the center 3rd of where it should travel.

So far I've:
  • Used compressed air to blow out the tracks
  • lubricated everywhere in sight
  • Attempted to reprogram as posted in the sticky section of this forum
  • Disconnected the battery and attempted to reprogram

Any thoughts? I don't want to pull the headliner out, but if I have to I have to. I can take it to the dealership, but would be afraid of what they might come back with. I've thought the motor/limiters on the unit could be out of sync, but cannot find anything on it.

Any suggestions are good suggestions at this point.

Thanks

Kevin

You mentioned that one track would move while the other is seized.

Have you considered at the passenger side track is broken after a certain point? A removal and look under there might help. If you don't feel comfortable doing it, I don't see any other choice besides a cert. mechanic or Lexus doing the job for you.

GL OP, It irks me when I find the little things broken in my car.
