Adding home link

Hi guys does any one know if adding a rear view mirror with home link to a car that currently does not have home link will it work or does the home link require other item in the car other than the mirror.

And also what frequency does home like transmit ??

That's a foo question. I would think you would need it to be hooked up to a power source of some kind at least. Should be okay to work with the home link but that's just a wild guess. Don't they all usually come with the home link standard.
