Considering 'clay bar' service.

I would put it simply as, it readies the car for a wax more so than just washing with soap. Using a clay bar before you wax helps remove contaminates from the paint that simple washing would leave behind. It is like a magnet to remove the dirt and grime that embeds itself into the paint. After properly clay baring your car, you will notice that the paint is extremely smooth, and after properly waxing, the paint should feel like butter I am no detailing expert, but I have used a clay bar on many of my cars and have always experienced wonderful results!

After they clay it they should polish and/or wax it afterwards. We all recommend it. Makes your paint last longer.

What they said above. The claybar will remove embedded surface contamination such as rail dust.

Use a sealant instead of wax if you want a protective layer. Wax fades quicker! You can wax over the sealant, but wont make a differance in looks

where do you guys get your car cleaning products and what do you use?

I know there has to be better stuff available besides the stuff that they sell at the auto parts store.

I use meguairs professional line, not the retail garbage thats full of fillers.

My cars detailed with

M105
M205
Sealant
Wax

I very lightly use california duster just to keep it clean in between waxes. Lexus black scratches very easily and its a pain to keep up to make it look nice. But once done correctly you get that mirror shine

oh its fantastic. plus it goes a loooong way. i bought the show car package two years ago and still have all the polishing compounds in good amounts. the only things ive had to buy more of are the Car Wash and Gloss Enhancer because i wash and gloss my car every two weeks if not more frequent.

i have an 06 and apart from the super small knicks on the front of the hood that inevitably occur from road debris...the rest of the car looks brand new.

I highly recommend trying Zaino

Which sealant and wax do you use, Meguiar's makes a few different kinds. My GS must look like this by the end of the week
