Default Another wheel question. Is this right?

First off my car is not lowered and I don't plan to. So I went to a rim shop to buy wheels. The wheels I want are 20 x 8.5 all around. I would like a little bit of cushion, so I told the guy I wanted to go with 245 35 20. And he says its not a good idea. As it is out of spec and will through off the whole computer as well as possibly give suspension as well as transmission issues later on being 22mm bigger then stock. Is there any truth to this? Also if I do go with that tire size. I wont get any rubbing issues will I?

it will throw things off technically but you would probably never notice it. will it harm the car? no.

on full turns you'll probably rub in the front on the wheel liner.

Oh ok that's good to know. Cause I notice some with that tire size rubbed and some didn't. Guess it depends o the tire.

Can anyone chime in who has had 245 35 20? If they did or did not have rubbing issues?

i can tell you right now theres probably a 95% chance it will rub in the front. Look at any of the rubbing issue threads and the common theme is 245/35 tire.

keep in mind that offset will be a big factor too but your probably using something common.

I'd run a 235/35-20 on an 8.5 assuming the offset is in the 35-40 range. I've ran a 235/35-20 before on a 20x 8.5 +40 in the front and didn't have any issues with rubbing. My car is also lowered.

I have a 20x9 +32 with 245/35, I had rubbing on left front only, had to cut part of the liner. tried heating and reshaping but it was not enough. also had to grind down the weld behind the liner some, but its all good now.
