Default Question about Navi DVD upgrade

Thinking about upgrading my 06 GS300 V5.1 to newest version and I have some reservations which are stated in the following:

1. Whats the difference between v5.1 v. the newest version?
2. If i was to upgrade, can i still override the navi so that I can use while it in motion?
3. Can anyone chime in regards to pros v. cons?

Thanks.

not unless you have a vaistech unit that supports video. even then though you would need an ipod or something to play it with, it wont work from the unit because ML is the only one that has the dvd player built in
