Satellite radio integration
I own a 2008 GS 350 w/o navigation.
I have the AM - SAT button on my radio dash.
I have the shark fin antenna.
Do I need to buy BOTH the Vaistech unit AND the satellite receiver to make satellite work.......or just the receiver only?

- If you instal the factory/OEM XM receiver you would not need the Vaistech interface etc. (Very easy DIY)
Cheers
if you can find the factory xm tuner, you can install it in the trunk and you can connect it to the shark fin. this will get you xm
if you want aftermarket, xm or sirius, you can get vaistech, which will be the unit plus the tuner. they will come with the aftermarket antenna puck. if you want to use the factory shark fin, you will need to get the adapter. i think vaistech has them, or used to

Where does the factory/OEM receiver plug into the satellite input? Is if through the glove box? Does anyone know if I can use that input for other devices (assuming I don't use it for sattellite radio)?
With he right aftermarket adapter/wiring harness or a somewhat extensive DIY with a wiring diagram you might pull it off. Bottom line, the factory XM receiver goes In the trunk yet the input interface involves an OEM XM wiring harness (part of the OEM XM "install kit") between he XM receiver and several other harness connections between head unit and amplifier - all of which takes place in the trunk.

It looks like Vais is the best option.
