Is this a myth?
My understanding for the reason NOT to let it idle to warm up is to help circulate the fluids in the transmission. I understand that those fluids aren't circulating until the transmission is engaged so it ensures both the engine and transmission warm up at the same rate. But it could all just be a myth as well...
its a little sluggish because the fluids arent fully circulated or warmed up.
I let everything warm up in my car.... I dont drive until it hits the first notch (C) on the temp gauge.... bad habit but it's what I do, and I warm up my audio in the back in cabin with very soft music, so I dont strain anything too much
.
I actually enjoy and utilize this time to check emails, make sure everything's legit in place in my garage and etc. before I jump in any drive anyway.

Since my GS blew its engine and well.. We don't wanna talk about Sandy I've been driving my 54 Ford and my 60 Lincoln a lot. The Lincoln has an automatic choke that's a real pita, it doesn't work very well so I have to pop the hood and manually set it. And, of course, the 430 is a little pissy when its cold.
But the 54 Ford with the good ole manual choke? Pull choke, tap gas twice, car starts instantly, even below freezing.
As far as warming up goes, I go easy on any car I own until it warms up.
