$1500 offer for repair from Lexus Corporate. Good or Bad Offer?
Just completed the oil consumption test last week. Two and one-quarter quarts after 1300 miles. Car has been burning oil for years since 2012. At that time, I showed Lexus dealer the letter regarding Customer Support Program for the engine which they vehemently denied anything was wrong. Fast forward to last Friday Lexus corporate representative Mario said that Lexus would take care of it from beginning of oil consumption test. One month and 1300 miles later, a Lucas calls me and says Mario no longer works in that department. Lucas says he taking over and only offers $1500 credit towards 22 hours of labor at $150 plus $450 in parts and no guaranty that Lexus dealer won't find other issues to escalate repair costs. Lucas says I bought it used and that is better than Lexus would offer, which is nothing, since its out of warranty now.
Dealer, Lexus of Pleasanton, where I service it, replaced the rings on my IS250 at 127,000, also out of warranty for free through a recall. What gives with the 2006 GS300?
How can I negotiate a better solution?

Ehhh... after reading this thread I called Lexus customer satisfaction and they only offered me a free top engine cleaning. Whatever...probably just going to get rid of this car before the end of the year.
This is a pretty major issue and I didn't receive a letter and dealership never told me when I was in. Feel a little duped. Poor MPG, oil burning quick, and aggressive idling.

Happened to me too!!!!
I just started having this issue and I have a 2007 GS 350. Was it a recall?
I have been having this issue for years. in 2011, they said it was carbon build up in the fuel injection system that was causing the misfire. I had the fuel injection cleaned, but that did not solve the issue. In 2010, they could not duplicate the issue and stated the car was working as designed.
I usually have the misfire when I come off the highway and stop at a light. The engine stutters and feels like it will shut off, after a few seconds, it goes away. Until the next time..... This also happens when I an just sittng in the car, in park.
I checked the www.lexus.com/owners website, but could not find specific vin info. sorry.

Have SCOTTY KILMER talk to them. They and other car manufacturers fear him. He gets things done. Just the idea of him coming to their dealership will make them get off their A$$ and do what they should be doing without a letter or recall. Seriously, it's funny how they claim to care so much yet, don't do a damn thing about it tell it's too late. I'm a victim of the first gen rx300 oil sludge and unfortunately I don't have a recall or warranty to fall on to. I'm having to pay out of pocket for a new engine. And I just sunk all I had into buying it a month ago! I thought I was doing good. Buying a Lexus and it having service records and appeared to be well taken care of. Yeah, I was given fraudulent work orders and lies. And he had a mechanic shave the bearings to make it run good. He was also adding a 20-50 oil! So yeah, it sure is pretty to look at!! And sit in it and pretend to drive like when I was a kid!!

Good grief . . . . after all the research I did prior to buying my '06 GS300, I just now ran across this post. Hmm . . . . I'm not as smart as I look (I know that's an arguable point).
Bought my GS300 in 2000 with only 36k on it. It has always had the timing cover leak. I have only had the rough idle a couple times, and I recently checked the codes and found the misfire ones. It now has 120k+ with original plugs, so I just changed to NGK plugs. I'm getting around 30 mpg most of the time, unless I'm "getting with it".

Good luck. I dumped mine three years ago. If you start getting that dreaded hard 2nd to 1st gear downshift, it's not the transmission, it's the ECU.
