Default Lexus Extended Platinum Warranty

I know its been mentioned around here on several other threads but i just picked up my Platinum Extended Warranty from Toby River at Shreveport La. Lexus. He hooked me up with a *Sweet* deal on an 8 year/100,000 mile warranty for less than $2K! My local dealer was trying to get me to buy the SAME exact warranty for over $5500!!

If you're getting close to the manufacturer's warranty expiring, and my GS350 was close to expiring, give Toby a call and see what he can quote you. Great long term investment, especially if you're planning on selling later as its transferable.

Toby's # is 1-800-335-3987

Platinum warranty is an excellent investment. Recently had to replace my HVAC blower. That was an invoice which was 92% the cost of my warranty. Still have two years and 40M miles left before expiration and my nav, for whatever reason, has started to flicker upon a cold start.

No I don't think you can add it to a cpo if it's past the factory warranty for miles or past the in service date for years

Yes it should. I believe the manufacturer's warranty is 4 years from date of production or 50,000 miles whichever comes first. So if your car was made (not bought) in September of 2009 than you have until September of 2013 or 50,000 miles to get the extended warranty. You can extend for an additional 4 years or 125K.

In the above example that would mean September of 2017 or 125K, whichever came first. Not bad for something that costs about $2K. You get all the perks of the warranty (loaners etc) and if you decide to sell the car you can transfer the extended warranty to the next owner (a great selling point).

Give Terry a call and he'll let you know the exact specifics. He did a fantastic job for me.

To clarify again, if your car is still under manuf warranty, then yes you can add the lexus ext warranty. If it is past the orig fac warranty in terms of miles or years then you can't add the lexus ext warranty. My gs is still under cpo warranty and I tried adding the extended warranty and could not.

Additionally, I can assure you the warranty starts when the car is put in service, not when it was built. If the car sits on the dealer lot for a year then the warranty would not start until it's sold.

factory 4 year/50K warranty starts when the new vehicle is purchased. that's when the dealer "punches" the VIN into the system to start the warranty.
