Default Help... My A/C stop working

Hello club members.... My A/c just stop working today I realize the compressor is not turning on... Can anyone help me... I check the R134 level and it seems to be full. I also switch around the relay to make sure one with this issue or maybe had a similar problem.

Also does anyone know how much would a compressor cost for part and labor ... Thanks

Usually a compressor is like $300 rebuild, brand new from the dealer might be $600 and maybe $200 labor.

How did you check your freon level? . . I would try and spin the clutch while the car is off to make sure your a/c clutch hasn't gone bad. 2nd the a/c compressor shutting off would mean either high pressure or low pressure in the system. Check to make sure that your engine fan is working properly when you turn on the a/c, if its not working properly your system pressure will build up. If the pressure is low, that would mean your freon level is low and or have a leak. That's why I asked how did you check your freon level.

Default Can a AC Belt being too tight or loose cause compress issues?

I had the 90K service done on my es300 recently and right afterwords there was belt squealing, especially in the AM or when the car was cold. Had that adjusted several times and the issue went away. Very soon after that, my A/C stopped getting cold and I was told the compressor was bad and needed to be replaced. This work was not done by a Lexus dealer. Can issues with the belt tightness cause compressor failure? Was told no, but wanted another opinion.

I hope this is the right place to post this question.

Thanks.

It could but only on heavy duty compressors, such as bus units. I don't think the compressors on our vehicles would have this issue, the belts don't have as much tightness.
