Default Lexus link -> Sunglass holder

Has anyone done this swap? I have the lexus link and never used it and I will find the sunglass holder much more useful. Also, anyone know if Lexus sell the holder?

Not sure if they have a holder. But I find most sunglasses holder in cars are too small to fit my sunglasses without some force and scratch the lens.
The link might just save your life. I would keep it and use the center compartment top shelf for your glasses.

Nick, good points. Sadly, I'm not even sure what Lexus Link is (I'm assuming its similar to OnStar). I also don't have a subscription with it so... might be a moot point anyway

Yes. Very much like Onstar. It'll automatically get someone to call you(through the car) in an event of airbags being deployed. If you're unconscious, they'll automatically send 911 to your location.
You can also use it for roadside assistant.

I ended using this on a loaner RX450H when I couldn't figure out that the car has already started. My first time with a hybrid and thought the engine was dead. It wasn't until the roadside assistant guy told me to try put the car in drive or reverse to see if it's going anywhere. Only after then that I realized hybrid don't make the cranking noise like a conventional gasoline car. It was silent. I felt like a complete idiot with the guy.

The sunglass is holder is pretty small I can barely fit my Ray Bans in mines. But there is a soft piece in front to protect the lens from getting scratched.

I find the sunglass holder pretty much useless. I do like the idea of putting business cards in there.

If you don't use your cig lighter then u can replace it with the jdm storage tray from Sewell, kinda expensive though

thanks for the input guys. I guess the general consensus is that it's not worth to swap as it doesn't fit most sunglasses.

hmmm i never had a problem with my sunglass holder. it fit nicely in there.

like mentioned though, if you dont smoke or use the ashtray, you can swap it out for a sunglass holder. agreed, it is a bit expensive. ive seen a few people do the mod though

Thanks for the link I only saw the ashtray -> coin tray conversion. This is pretty sweet... but I'm assuming I lose the cig lighter functionality if I go this route no?

Hmmmm......I don't understand. My sunglasses fit perfectly. Don't you just put them in where the lenses are facing the roof and then close it? How are you all doing this?

My sunglasses fit fine as well. I'm trying to think how I have them positioned but I think I have the lenses pointing towards the roof when the holder is opened as well.
