Gen 5 nav dvd in Gen 4 vehicle
So I read somewhere that this worked, and came across a Gen 5 dvd for free and decided to try it out.
After putting the disc in, I did not get the "loading" screen that usually happens when you normally put in a new version of the dvd, but rather something asking me to confirm my coordinates.
I didnt press anything and after about 30 seconds, the map appeared. I checked the dvd details and confirmed it was the new 11.1 version that I put in... BUT it seemed like there was alot of disc loading noises comming from my glove box and anytime I wanted to do something (zoom, search, etc) it was a loading type delay...
My question is, is this normal? Does the map data always load from the disc or is it supposed to fully install somewhere?
I have also read once you upgrade to a new version dvd you cannot revert back to your old disc. This was not the case, I put my old version back in the drive and it worked right away.
Comments?

it does work, kinda, very slowly.... but it does not install, it seems to just run off the disc!
usually when you put a new nav disc in, you will get a loading screen with a progress bar along the bottom. this is not the case when i place gen 5 dvd in a gen 4 vehicle, it just seems like it runs the map from the dvd instead of installing?

How does the map look? Like a gen 5? Or is the only real benefit is updated places and you don't have to press I agree? Also does it make a noise when just driving along. My nav is purely for looks. That's all it's good for ha
