Default brake rotors

Hello, guys!

It is first time I am changing brake discs or rotors on my Gs 450h. So i have question for you guys who know something about that. What would you recommend to buy? because now i have original brake discs and I am not fully satisfied with them. They get overheated really easy. Now i am thinking to buy something more effective. what will be your recommendations?

Unless you go for after market performance brakes, you might as well stick to OEM rotors and experiment with different pads.

I would say just buy different pads, unless you're rotors are warped (shake while braking) you don't need to change em. I read some reviews of the EBC REDSTUFF pads, It said it doesn't overheat at all, might want to give those a try. BTW that's my next pads that I will be personally using. You can get them from local vendors on here or autoanything.com.

break pads overheat? Geez...Ive thought i was hard on my brakes slamming on them at 140mph with no problem and still have good stopping power. They eventualy started getting warped. I replaced my oem rotors with slotted performance rotors from brakeperformance.com and oem brake pads sewell lexus. Had them on for about 10k miles and feeling good. I dont mind brake dust so thats why i kept oem pads. If it aint broken dont fix it...

i bought centric premium rotors off tirerack.com and installed them myself. i forget if centric owns stoptech or if it's the other way around but either way, the rotors are great. i changed them a little over a month ago and have no complaints.

are you experiencing brake fades? just curious because you mentioned that your brakes are overheating. how did you measure that it was overheating or figure that on your own?

day to day driving shouldn't really overheat your brakes unless your driving extremely hard or driving with a foot on the brake pedal. stick with OEM rotors and try better brake pads. also change out your brake fluids as well if you haven't done that in about 2 years.

Centric rotors are good alternative to oem rotors, and yes Centric bought Stop Tech several years ago. I believe they were using Centric blanks to begin with before the merge.

I am using OEM rotors and pads. I feel them overheated because after stopping form 120 mph they seem to be really weak after that. Al so I don't have steering wheel shaking but ending of the braking is not smooth and it feel like it stopping with intervals. Mostly I drive in mountainy places and down hill. And i cant stop myself from speeding their...
And i have done resurfacing of rotors. but no change. Thats why i was thinking to buy performance rotors.... Problem is that i am ready to pay 500 USD for rotors but not more.

Thank You guys for your advices!!!

Try vivid racing, they have been very efficient and helpful when ordering brakes. I bought a complete set of Stoptech pads from them for my GS. I haven't installed them yet, just waiting for my OEM's to fail as usual.

braking from 120mph on public road...and down hill?
but whatever its your car and your life. just don't go killing others. you can always go to your local track to push your car safely without endangering yourself or others on the road.

as for brakes, turning/resurfacing them does nothing for you as it weaken the rotor and will actually heat up faster due to thinner rotor. get OEM or centric blanks and performance pads. make sure to upgrade or change your brake fluids that can withstand higher temp. should give you a better pedal feel and resist the fade a little more.
