Is it possible to upgrade the Nav software from the 06 models to the 07 or take the 07 nav system and upgrade to the 2011+ software? Btw, I'm not talking about the CDs for the street names, I'm talking the whole interface (menu buttons, screen resolution, etc.)
How much does this cost? Is it all just on a HDD behind the sceen/dash somewhere or is it the whole unit that needs to be switched out? Anyone done this? If you have a Mark Levinson package does that make a difference when trying to upgrade?
i say forget about the 2010+ system, as far as i know wiring are different (can't say how different). not to mention 2010+ is hdd system so hard to see what you are dealing with
for ML, difference isn't just the head unit, it's also the amp, etc...
correct me if im wrong...but if you buy an update dvd doesn't it load that firmware onto the nav? if you upgrade from 06 you will loose the "override feature"
Ya I know about the dvds. I tried asking the dealer if they'd ever heard of anyone upgrading from 06 nav to the 07+ and they thought I was talking about the discs as well. Seems like it might be something not worth doing but considering the price difference between 06-07 models, figured it was worth asking lol.
OP is asking about updating the generation of the nav, it's far more than just the dvd
I second Rominl on this. I have a 06 and tried swapping just the head face of the dash and leaving the actual ML and NAV DVD as is and did not work So I swapped it back..
