step up your game and get the CLS. My MB had no problems what so ever, and the CLS is based off of the E-class. Good luck and post some pics.
BTW: the interior looks like AMG CLS, not CLS500/550

I used to love the CLS. Especially the 63. But, after 1 mistake since my last GS >>> 335d I decided I love everything about the GS and bought another. I think the interior looks nice w/ the diamond stitching, my biggest concern would be long term reliability. I'm a lil down on the european cars atm.

But the taillights are ugly and hardly light up at night, the way they light up at night is not up to standards... real cheap looking.

Isn't he talking about the CLS, you might be thinking the CL which is the 2 door coupe and about 20-30k more i believe.

I smoked a CLS 500 the other day....I'd at least have to get the CLS 550 if its not AMG....I've always loved the styling and its aged so well and influenced the knock-off Hyundai Sonata and VW CC. The CLS is just a tremendous car.
That said, no joke, the GS 300 actually finished AHEAD of the CLS 350 in an issue of the Euro magazine CAR believe it or not. Both were behind the 5 series. THat says a lot if a Euro mag picked the GS 300 (not 350) over the CLS. So don't short change the GS.
If you want a change, hell go for it. I can support going into a CLS.

with the crappy re-sale value and the scares of reliability and quality of high-mileaged mercedes, i've decided to stay put with my GS. I will still keep my eyes out on trading up for a LS460

My GS is getting driven into the ground until it's an embarrassment. As an every day driving car, it is pretty much perfect for us - minus the trunk. Just bought a new stroller and I have yet to see how it's going to cram in there. I'm kind of scared to try it.

not true, CLS share many components as the E. CL is basically 2dr S-Class in shorter wheelbase. The old CLK was supposed to be 2dr E-Class, but it has more in common with the C-Class Sedan. Now they have C coupe, E coupe, and CL coupe. I dont consider CLS a coupe.

About a month ago, I was in similar situation. I sold my 02' SC430 and purchased 08' MB CLS550 with pretty low miles as you can see in my sig. I really liked my SC430. It was very reliable but with 163K miles on it, lots of little things started to fall apart starting with coilover, speakers, my rear bumper had a minor accident so paint started to peel and etc. After selling my SC430, I was debating between GS460 and CLS550. I was very very close to getting the 08' GS460 with very low miles but everyone around me talked me into getting CLS550. Also as someone mention, I was concerned about the reliability of MB's. While back, I would say 3-4 year ago there was a 3 year long term survey done by JD Power & Associate which basicly showed, out of 100 cars sold by each car manufacture, how many cars came back for warrenty work. Guess what? Scion finished #1 with least amount of cars returning for warrenty work. #2 was Lexus and #3 was Toyota. From what I recall, MB was in the middle of the pack some where and Mini had the worst rating with most cars comming back for warrenty work. Also from experience, MB is a very sensative car. They have senors for everything. My wife drives E350 and Warning light comes on for every little think. From what I hear, German cars in general have more electrical problems than Japanese car. As for CLS550, I can tell you right off the top its a very fast car. It definately pulls harder than GS460 how ever, gas miles is not as good. MB or Lexus, it has its advantages and disadvantages. I visit MB forums and I really did not see much issues with CLS550. Over all, I don't regrat my decision and so far so good but its too early to tell. I also purchased MB CPO extended warrenty which covers upto 135k miles Even if I would have purchased GS460, I don't think I would have regret it. One thing great about CLS550 other and the power is the suspension. The Airmatic Suspension is awsome. Even after lowering the car wth links, which by the way is very cost effective way to lower your CLS550, it rides great. You can also adjust the height. If you are a baller, you can get Electronic Lowering Module (AKA: ELM) which you can control the height from inside the car with press of a button and it cost about same as installing coilover on Lexus.
Here is a pic of my CLS550 which I took few weeks ago after putting on my HRE's
