Anyway, in the city where I live, I have known lots of people with nice wheels, (i.e., Beamers, Mercedes, Caddies, foreign sports jobs, etc.,) who have experienced key jobs, as well as automotive dealerships where there have been many cases of new vehicles scratched and gouged, and windows broken on their car lots overnight.

I spent over twenty years working in the criminal justice system with juveniles, and had a number of kids explain to me that keying cars was a way for them to get even with the world. Most of these guys had been abused as kids and kicked around through the foster home system, school drop outs at very early ages, and exposed to alcohol and drugs at early ages. I even had a couple of these young thugs show me how they held the key or nail in their hand to make the deepest possible gouges and get the most cars running through a parking lot or a dealers lot, or just running down the street. The message seemed to be that when some of these kids were/are bored , broke and angry, they make their own entertainment. I agree they are troubled, troublesome and troubling. Some or many of them grow out of this behaviour in time, but there is always a new crop coming up. I don't have the answer, but this is what I have learned from some of the guys that get off on vandalizing other people stuff.

I got another GS because I thought the problems of ownership (i.e., vandalism,) were outweighed by the pride of ownership and the fun I get from driving this car.

2006 GS300 AWD
Thanks for the write up.

Default Update

Went to the shop to see how things where going, and i must say the results are rather surprising. Didn't expect it to be so good, they have done a job that has already exceed my already high expectation of the results. Hopefully it would be ready by next week. I'll put pics up when done.

That was my thought too. My paint job included $2K in materials at a good guy deal before any bodywork or painting was done.

Default Finished! Almost :)

Got the car back yesterday, and i'm jumping to the conclusion. Damn it looks good, pictures don't give it any justice. It looks so clean, there is no way anyone could do work like this in the States, i've been through it. The painter was demonstrating to me with an electronic device, don't know what its called, it showed how all the panels where at the same level of paint depth. The rims also got painted. Alot of man hours went to it and it paid off. I'm getting to detailers tomorrow to get it clay bar'd, and wax to giver it a cleaner shine and protection. I guess I'm keeping the car for a little further and loving it even more.
Took a couple of shots with my iPhone, although there is a little dust on the car.

Do not get the panels you had repainted waxed yet! The paint needs time to cure and waxing the car sooner than, at the very earliest, a month after repainting will not allow the paint to cure properly and it can cause cracking.

Be careful not to let bird droppings, any other acidic substances, or tar sit on the paint before it is waxed, because that can also cause staining & corrosion.

Sucks right?
