Default trade in value or dealer resale value

has anyone traded in a gs? i have around 55k on the gs300 awd with navigation and levinson. it's in average condition with pretty new tires and front and rear brakes.

would lexus just buy it from me at the same price they would let me trade it in for if i were not to buy a car from them?

well I traded my GS 300 RWD 2006 with 53K and fully loaded, ML, Sunshade and they bought the car from me for $22,500 so I would say that they paid book value for my car and I was happy, its usually possible if you plan to buy a car thats worth more or even a brand new one.

i don't like carmax which in my opinion has an overrated reputation. they don't offer top dollar when they purchase their cars, nor are their standards for the cars they sell that high.

well, let me drive over to the lex dealer tomorrow and see what they've got to offer

I just traded in my 07 GS350 RWD, non-ML, at the end of January. I was given $23,500. This was just slightly more than KBB trade in value for my area. The car had just over 61k on the odometer, new tires and brakes and was in excellent condition.

you just know they'll spit shine it and list it on autotrader for like $29,900. And some idiot will come along and give them $28,000 for it. You just can't win...

I was debating the samething, I have a GS300 navi/ML with 75k and was wondering if its worth upgrading to an 08 . My guess, I'll get raped on the trade-in.

Recently unloaded my 2006 GS 300 AWD. Car had 82K miles. Lexus offered $16K (They claimed that was a stretch)... I sold it on Global Autosports in two weeks for $19K. Sell it privately.

My car is currently sitting on the lot at Leith Mercedes Benz in Raleigh NC. This is where I traded it in. I could not copy the link to this page to show everyone. They are asking $27,754. You're right, all the did was wash it up and post a sale price. I bet you can get it for around $26k OTD

Wow. I mean that's cold. What I don't like is being sold on the whole "Lexus has the best resale value" hype, but come trade in time 5 years later they want to give you like 35% of the original MSRP. Glad you sold it yourself.

I will say that high mileage GS's, say 60,000 and over don't seem to be asking for much more than than ultra low mileage cars. I'm sure high mileage means there's more room to dicker on the sticker... but still the starting points are remarkably close.

Heh, that's an odd asking price. and naturally I exaggerated for effect on what I thought they'd list it for. There's just a fair bit of exaggeration here in forum land.

Carmax has a HORRIBLE rep. Just go to ripoff report and search for them. Endless stories of terrible deals, classic bait n' switch tactics, high pressure sales tactics and so on.
