did get a good deal?

You're better off buying a $40k Toyota, and pay someone to switch out the letters on the trunk to Lexus with the $40k you've save. Apparently, that is all that matters to you.

Don't mean to only single out your post, there are a couple others contributing to it too... But why are you guys trying to rain on the OP's parade?
He bought a GS because HE likes it. OP asked if he got a good deal on a 06 GS300, no where did he ask if he should have got a genesis instead.

I would've sold you my GS450h on $3K Vossen's w/ Falkens and Tanabe NF's along with the factory springs and stock 18" rims/tires for $31.5K. It wouldn't have come with the warranty but you would've saved tons in tax by purchasing private party opposed to a dealer.

I can definitely understand why someone would be reluctant to spend excessive amounts on a Korean brand car. Yes, the Koreans have definitely succeeded in improving upon their auto manufacturing brands; especially Hyundai. However, I've driven the Equus and the Genesis and although I was truly impressed with how far the company had come, I would certainly not consider pouring out that kind of money on a Hyundai. There are noticeable shortcomings in quality when compared to a PROVEN and SUSTAINED brand.
