The units just piggyback off of each other as I remember... I have been running the VaisTech XM unit and Ipod unit for a while now with no issues. If I remember correctly, you just have to register each one individually.

Cause someone as VaisTech was saying I need to purchase some other unit interface in order for it to work.

I have the SL2xmt and also the SL2i-UP running piggy backed. You have to install and configure each individually and then daisy chain them. I installed mine over a year ago and have never had an issue with either.

With the XM unit, you also have to purchase a mini-tuner (small cartridge) as their kit doesn't come with one.

my car already had XM and so should yours (XM ready at least). I think I have the SL2i-up? I really dont recall but I just plugged it in and didn't lose anything. I think this is only if your adding Sirius or XM and do not have it ready in your car. I did install a kit for a local to get Sirius and it was just another box to plug in.

Do you know if your car already has the factory XM stuff installed? XM Ready just means you can add the kit (Lexus one) to get it. It's either that or the VAIS kit if you want it integrated to the radio. Hit the AM|Sat button and if you just get AM, you need either the factory kit or the VAIS one installed.

if you press on your AM-SAT button and it goes to sat1/2/3 and it plays, then that means you already have the xm tuner as well. all you need to do is to activate. if you can't get that, that means you do NOT have the tuner and you need it. the head units are all xm ready anyway

for the tuner, you can get the factory one (for the trunk), or you can get the vaistech xm setup. that's up to you, both of them actually would end up costing about the same, vaistech probably a little cheaper.

for the ipod, you can get any from vaistech no problem. if you use factory xm, then there is nothing to worry about, one is in trunk and one connects to head unit. if you get both from vaistech, then both connects to the back of head unit, and you just need to program them one by one and then daisy chain. it will work
