Default possibly a new lexus owner

Hi,

I rented the GS 460 2007 and I instantly fell in love with it - I'm a previous owner of a Honda Prelude which I can vouch that it made me spend more money on it than what it was worth - but I loved the car and what can I say im a sucker for love lol

So I decided to get the GS 3rd Gen Lexus however I'm not sure which one.

The one I rented was a premium package V8 and it was a beast on the road. Gas wasn't bad at all and I made it to Montreal with one fill.

So I'm looking at a GS 430 ultra premium with only 44K for $26,000

I live in Toronto, I keep hearing about RWD is not a good way to go, but I think winter tires would do just fine. or should I go for AWD 350 GS with same kilometers going for slightly higher price?

Any suggestions or recommendation on this, going to see the car Saturday and place an offer.

GS430 and GS350 deliver similar performance up to 120kmh.

Yes it's a good price for that mileage. I've seen a few sell for 22 but those tended to have over 90k miles.

in 2007 there were no gs460, it's still gs430. imho gs430 and gs460 are quite different. totally different engine and tranny.

44k km or miles? for a 06 gs430, i personally would aim for low to mid 20s. and rwd in snow, i am never a fan. i have heard too many people complaining about their gs and ls rwd in snow

welcome to clublexus!

The people who complain don't have snow tires. No rear wheel drive car will be safe on all season tires when driving on compounded surface snow/ice. I drove a RWD Lexus on snow tires in Munich and it was great.

Must of been 08 or 09 then - nevertheless it was a great experience.

The car I'm planning to put an offer on is a 2006 GS 430 with Ultra Premium and 44K KMs - he wouldn't go less than $750 of the asking price which brings it down to $25,000. plus tax - warranty still valid too.

really warranty still available, not CPO , Batman has a point with winter tires can't say personally that they work or don't my friends have said it helps though, but for sure all season tires do absolutely no good, my car was everywhere when I drove in a little snow.

With a good set of snow tires, a RWD GS will do fine in the snow. Good luck with the purchase.

I just looked on cars.com and found a few 07' GS450h's for around $28K with 45K. Why not go with the 450h if you're going to spend high $20K's anyways?

I agree. It's a little weird to buy a Lexus to drive in the snow unless you're talking about an LX or a GX.

If you want a car, buy a used Subaru WRX w/ AWD. You can get one for about 1/2 of what you'll get a used GS for. It won't have all the bells and whistles but it'll definitely be very fun to drive. In all honesty though, I'd be looking at a beater like IXI181IXI said.
