Injector Ticking Fix?
I just purchased my second GS. The first was a 2007 certified pre owned which I kept for only six months...long story.
Now I just purchased a 2011 which is what I should have done the first time.
Both cars have the injector ticking noise that I've read about on this forum but what I haven't seen are any fixes for the issue.
I was thinking of wrapping each injector body with high temp. fabric to try and dampen the noise. Any mechanics out there that can tell me if this will have adverse effects? Are there any other insulating procedures that might be effective?

Hey....I'm right there with ya.....it amazes me how few people complain about that....my wife has driven many vehicles from a 645 convertible to a Yukon XL, including an LS & an SC, & shes ready to trade our 07 solely because of that injector noise. She says it sounds like the Vega GT I had when we started dating. Evidently, the rep recommended some kind of a boot that they are going to try possibly as soon as next week.
Hey leonsup,
Is this boot something from the Lexus dealer?
I would really be interested in the outcome.
I too am surprised that Lexus finds this acceptable on a $50,000.00 automobile.

You have this issue on all cars with direct injection engines. People complain about it on other forums too.
The alternative is to buy a car with a non Direct Injection engine. The Lexus ES350 for example. Without DI you lose about 10% of power output.

I wouldn't say all, Honda S2000 has DI and its dead silent. GX470 older body is more silent on top of the engine but louder on the bottom. Go figure!!!

I have heard these noise complaints on Cadillac and Audi forums too. In Cadillac case, it seems that on 2010 models, Cadillac added additional insulation to the engine bay to ensure you can't hear the ticking.
Some people retrofitted that insulation to older models.

The BMW 7 Series 2010 has that sound and it cost $102,000 and makes the same ticking sound!
^ That's correct. The S2000 has MPFI.
"Direct-Ignition System
Instead of a distributor, the S2000 engine uses a computer-controlled direct-ignition system with individual high-voltage coils located at each spark plug. The spark plugs have non-fouling platinum tips for long life." I would do some research before you tell me to get a clue.
