engine knock
I have a '06 GS300 RWD, 60K miles and an engine knock so loud pedestrians turn around to see who's coming. The dealer says it's normal for this engine. Is anyone else experiencing something similar? Can someone recommend winter tires for this snow sled? This car handles horrible in the slightest bit of snow.
when is the knock? is it constant whenever you drive (ie right after start up and say an hour into driving the same)? the car is known to have a ticking noise when it starts and its cold out but it usually goes away within a matter of minutes.

Regarding your snow-sled comment - its not the car it's the tires. This car does not handle worse than any other rear drive car in the snow. People just buy cheap rubbish tires and then blame the car.
Sounds like the ticking noise for Direct Injection, but it shouldn't be that loud that pedestrians be turning around looking. Maybe if you can make a video with sound we can assist you futher.
The 300 engine, 3GR-FSE, is not an inline it's a V-6 (just like the 350), and direct injection (just like the 350).
The knock starts at start up and stays until the car is turned off. I gets somewhat softer after about a half hour of driving but never goes away.
