No check engine light? Sounds like "limp mode", but limp mode should be accompanied by dummy lights.

Barring that, transmission stuck in high gear? Are you in "snow mode" or something? It should definitely go all the way up to red line when flooring it in sport mode.

To me its more like a gas saver mode , But you should be expecting few dummy lights on you're car in order to have this so called "limp mode".

Air Flow Meter needs to either be cleaned or replaced.

EXACT same problem my car presented with;

....mine choked/stuttered @ 5k RPMs; when i posted this query here.

https://www.clublexus.com/forums/gs-...-5000rpms.html

upon further research, i discovered that the 3GS (gs300/350) had a DEVELOPING problem....I had my car repaired by Lexus under a TAS (Technical Assistance Service) case looooong before the TSIB fix.

https://www.clublexus.com/forums/gs-...ng-help-3.html

read post #31, and #44; (notice the trending before post #31 = all are 300s/350s).
link attached on a Lexus TSIB fix for Carbon Buildup.
unfortunately, the TSIB fix for carbonization is only for cars with symptoms that are replicable by your dealer.

yes, the TSIB solved the stuttering, hesitation, rough idle..........not quite sure if it will prevent any future buildup.

It sounds like what he's describing is different, it sounds like his car will not allow an engine speed above 3000 rpm which is a typical limp mode symptom. My guess is one of the engine sensors like a cam position has gone bad according to the ECU and it has gone into safe mode to try to prevent damage to the engine. Of course, again, this would always be accompanied by a christmas tree dash. Anyway, the OP is not responding so we'll never know.

From my experience, limp mode with no error message has always been due to bad MAF's.

Also referred to as mass air sensors!

Have it checked out

First thing north of the air cleaner on the intake tube, attached to an electrical harness and fastened to the tube with two small screws.

BinaryJay, do you have a pic of where its located. Is it located by the sparkplug and has a connector on the top of it?

Happened to my cousin's G35 when he had a CAI and drove into a large puddle when it rained a lot lol. But his CEL came on and later blew his motor.
