Default Lost Key Help!

I lost one of the keys to my 2006 GS300.

I bought a replacement key on ebay that needs to be programmed. I just bought a new battery for it just in case and the inside looks legit.

I called my nearest Lexus Dealer and they said they would program it for $150 but won't guarentee that it'll work. They said if it doesn't work I would still have to pay the $150.

My question is is there any better options to program the key? I don't want to spend the money to have it programmed and not work and still end up paying $350-450 to order a new key from Lexus.

Help would be greatly appreciated.

Sorry. You're at the mercy of the dealership.

Try asking around different dealerships and even Toyota for a better price and/or guarantee.

Should have compared FCC IDs on the keys to make sure it's the right type before buying. If the FCC ID is the same it should be fine, assuming that the key is not broken in the first place.

I bought a second new key (both parts and pre-cut) from sewell for $163 and my dealer programmed it for $30... This is after my dealer quoted $451 to do the same thing!!

Here's the link - http://lexus.sewellparts.com/accesso...S300-2006.html Make sure you login and link your profile to get the ClubLexus discount.

Hope this helps!

The FCC numbers all match.

I bought both parts of the key for $60.

Question: Did you ever get the key cut? Doesn't seem to be necessary since it's keyless entry and push ignition.

its not really needed but it does come in handy if you need to open the door or trunk with the key.

call Wilkie Lexus up on the Main Line. Thats where i go and they've always been very helpful.

Guys - be careful, there's more to it than just matching the FCC ID's. We have multiple key fobs for different cars that while they do share ID's, they are not compatible with one another.

Oh thanks for the info Sewell. I found a Lexus dealership on the way to work about forty minutes from my house that would program the key for $60. If that doesn't work I'll just buy a key from Lexus.
