Smile Wheels and tire suggestion

Hi guys,
I'm from Perth, Australia, new to GS forums. I'm in the process purchasing a 2006 GS430.

I'm looking into getting a set of 20" wheel for my GS, I got a quote from Job Design for the width and offset, and I was given F9.5J ET+38 R 10.5J ET+35 which is fitted on their show car with rolled guard.

I would like to know if it is possible to go more aggressive to get more dish for the front and rear with just rolled guard? I don't want to cut anything on my car, shave the rear guard or pull the guard. Also, any suggestion for tyre..

Note: Will get a set of air suspension for my GS in the near future.

Thanks in advance for your reply/help!!

Most US people get on these forums after 5 or 6pm so you'll have to hang in there. I have no idea since I like to ride on stock wheels with max performance tires.

Hmmm... tricky one!

10.5's are usually right on the edge! Anything wider and you're gonna need to do some serious fender work!

So does it mean 10.5 is near the maximum for rear with minimal fender mod ie. fender rolling?

I'm not sure about the offset as I saw on the wheel thread, most of the forum member's ride usually get 10.5+48 for the rear. Would 10.5+35 safe then?

How about for the front?

10.5 +35 you'll definitely need fender shaving in the rear.

even with 275/25/20 for the rear tyres will cause rubbing by just rolled rear fender? or maybe go for 265/25/20 for the rear?

Well it also depends on the brand of tire. Due to tire design, some 275s rub and some don't.

Yea.. Wald Mahora is nice. It was in my list. However, i decide to go more VIP style. I'm still considering to get dish type wheels(WORK VARIANZA D3S) or 5spokes(DAD DR302 or JP NEW SCARA). However it all depends on which wheels can get more lip.

You might want to find a shop in WA to do the work(fender pulling/shaving) before buying the rims. I know its kinda hard because I tried to my best to make 20x10 +25 on a 275/30/20 Falken FK452 fit my 3GS and not alot of shops (in WA) want to touch a Lexus that new. The front set-up even sounds wide! Great for a showcar...but daily driver???

LOL...sorry sir! Thought you moved from Australia to WA State.

Anyways...Ended up not using the rims. I would have need about 10-15 millimeters to make the wheels tuck without doing any mods. I think I was told to to 20x10 +40 which i will try shortly. Have you checked the wheel thread/sticky above?

Its alright mate.

I read through everything in the wheel thread but cant really find the answer I'm looking for.

I compared 20x10 +25 & 10.5 +35 using offset calculator, the result show that 10.5+35 actually RETRACT by 4mm from position of the outside edge of the wheel.

If 20x10 +25 would need 10 mm to make the wheel tuck in, then 10.5 +41 will do the job.
However, my main concern is what if i roll my guard, how much more i and go for.
