hey guys I was wondering if anyone has had an issue with their volume button the dash not working. My volume button has stopped working twice in the last week. I just turn off the stereo and turn it back on and it works again. Kind of weird

I had the same problem last summer and expect to have it again now. It manifested itself every time the car was parked in the Phoenix sun for a number of hours. The problem went away after the a/c cooled down the car
This happened over a year ago on the 06, my wife's car.
Took it to dealer but they couldn't duplicate.
I told my wife to not use the button for several days....turn radio on/off with the steering wheel buttons. She did and a week later used the dash ****. It hasn't acted up again.
I guess it just needed some rest.

Thanks fir the heads up guys. I will admit it did do it after the car was parked in the sun all day long. My wife told me to take it in but I told I know they are not going to be able to duplicate it
Mine did the same thing. My steering wheel controls worked, but my volume **** would not work on the actual stereo.
I took it to the dealer, they told me they ordered a new stereo, and would call me when the new stereo came in – I never heard from them. The next time I went in for service I told them about the issue, which had disappeared after only happening about 3-4 times, and they said they would need to duplicate the problem. I pointed out that my last service clearly stated that a new stereo was ordered, but they said that they could not replace my stereo.
My stereo then started taking about 4-5 attempts to eject a CD. I brought this new problem to my dealer’s attention on my next three service appointments which all resulted in them not being able to duplicate the problem. Finally, they were able to duplicate the problem the fourth time I brought the car in for the issue and they replaced my stereo.
Unfortunately there is not an error code, that I know of, for a malfunctioning stereo. So, you are hosed unless they are able to duplicate the issue (given the Toyota/Lexus theory of there is not a problem unless there is an error code, or Toyota/Lexus is driving with you in the car when it crashes and it has an error code).

I just remembered the 06 GS did have the stereo replaced the first year we had the car because cd's got stuck and wouldn't eject...nor would they play. The thing just froze. The second problem with the **** happened on the new unit.
All you guys had problems on the 06 car, correct?

Did the problem resolve itself after the interior cooled off?

yes. I turned off the stereo and turned it back on and it started working again. Its been ok recently but I will mention it when I take the car in for the next service. This is annoying because I had the stereo in my G35 replaced 6 times in 5 years........yes 6 times. Thats why I didn't buy another infiniti ( well that and a slew of other repeated repairs). Can I catch a break???
