Default 06 GS300 Recirculate mode not working

Hello everyone, I have one question need to find the answer.

Ours air condition had one button can control free air from outside (manual say that call air intake), but when I select to recirculate mode, the air still come in, the button green light working fine, and I can hear something when I select between 2 mode, did anybody know how to solve this problem?

Asked Lexus dealer today, but my 06 GS300 are out of warranty, they asking $160 per hour to find the problem, but no guarantee can repair it, because they never saw this issue before.
Anyone know about this?

The air is supposed to still blow. It's just that it is not being sucked in from outside the car but from inside the car.

The noise you hear is the mechanism diverting the air to come from the inside or outside.

To check whether that mechanism is working, go to your manual and look up the procedure for changing the cabin air filter. Don't replace it but observe what happens when you press the re-circulate button.

If you want it fixed, then I think the dealer is your best bet. But maybe find one who won't charge so much to give you a quote for the repair.

The way to check if its actually working, is to go to glove compartment and take off everything out to get to the cabin air filter. There is a DIY here some where just you the search function. Once you take a plastic piece so the see the bear plastic to the cabin filter press the button if the gate going up and down then everything is working fine. If the gate stays open i have some horrible news for you, you are in for a lot of money to get it fixed. Most likely it broke while they were replacing you cabin air filter. Good luck keep us updated.

Thank you rjacket & GS350Lexus, help me to understand how to do.

I open that glove compartment yesterday to check anything wrong, I saw a cover can push up and down, when I open that cover, I can see the cabin air filter, and I put everything back, still not working.

I think you right, I just done my regular service, maybe they replaced my filter and damaged the unit. Look like the parts so frail.

A lot of money? Did you know how much? Or have anyway to get it fix?

Check your service documentation to see if they cleaned or changed your air filter. If so, then tell them that they broke it and need to fix it.
