im not sure if it is normal, but just got my gs used at 68K miles. there are louder engine noise when you first start the car. took it to lexus they said it is normal. anyone have the same problems. i thought it was the higher milage.
The V6 engine uses a high pressure fuel injection pump that produces a sound kinda like what you describe. You get used to it, and it's hardly noticeable inside the car.
What exactly do you mean by "when you first start the car"? Like the second after it starts or the first few minutes? Does it sound like metal on metal grinding or just like a diesel engine?
more like diesel engine. and also when you have the ac unit up high the engines really roars when you stand outside of the car. is that normal. my friends notice the engine sound and tell me to let lexus checked it out. i did and they said it is normal. i don't know. Does anyone knows the benefit of the direct fuel injection as to the regular from the older GS?
Yes, both are 100% normal. DI gasoline engines sound similar to diesel engines because they both use high pressure injectors.
As for A/C, yes that's normal for any car. If your cars idle wasn't increased when the compressor was engaged, it would stall the engine due to the extra load.
