^ Yea one of my favorite rims, not that Im biased since they were on my car, especially on a white GS. This and a nice BBK kit it doesnt get much better
Noticed I never posted my front and rear set up. Wonder if I have any old pics I can add to this thread for others to see.
Someone is selling this locally on FB. Its the IS350 BBK kit, Stoptech calipers. Its not the ISF Brembos. 30,000 miles on the rotors. Thinking of getting this for my GS460, but not sure its worth the money.
get it!
I used to have stoptech 6/4's on my old M3, very nice calipers and hold up well on the track. They have a removable bridge so you don't have to take off the caliper to change brake pads.
My current Brembo monoblocks are light but troublesome to change pads. It's completely overkill for 100% street driving but I just like big brakes
Theyre decent but the price is $2800. And they have 30,000 miles on them. I'll pass for now.
However, I saw these ISF brakes for sale yesterday morning, couldn't believe my eyes. Got in contact with the seller and started driving there immediately. Unfortunately someone came and bought them 15 minutes before I arrived.
Hey there, resurrecting this thread because I think it's the right place?
So anyway, the front rotors for my 2009 GS300 were due for replacement and Lexus TH was going to charge me about $800 for the stock front rotors and pads. So I thought I'd look around if there were any aftermarket options available locally. After a bit of sticker shock at the Brembo options, I couldn't even find any stock fitting options here. So I came across these guys here in Thailand, Runstop, they manufacturer rotors and calipers for aftermarket upgrades.
Brought my car to the factory where their mechanics had a look and said they could make a custom hub for me to fit one of their 380mm rotors and I could use the stock calipers with some minor modifications. Only problem was, they didn't have anything available for the rears. Luckily, had a friend coming over from the US, so I ordered a cross-drilled and slotted stock size for a drop-in replacement. Didn't know the damn things were so heavy! Bless him for lugging it halfway around the world to me here.
Made the appointment and about 7 hours later, BBK installed in the fronts of my car. Photos as below. Probably should have done it at the same time, but will go back to repaint the calipers and put in the braided stainless steel brake lines. New front discs and new pads all around, they installed the rear discs for free, since it was just a replacement, for $730 + $90 for the rear rotors I got stateside.
Will probably look into a custom rear option later, but given the car has a front weight bias already, probably no need? Do need to replace my shocks, which is probably overdue, considering my car just hit the 200K KM mark a few days before the brake upgrade...
