eBayed Philips XenEco Bulbs, how did I do?
I happen to like the standard HID colour/light output of my Philips bulbs, even though they are probably getting on in age. Came across this listing and decided having a pair of packups can't hurt at this price.
Ended up getting a pair of new ones for $51.99. Now, he says they are "new" but they obviously don't look very boxed or anything. I inquired about why they don't look pristine and he told me they were "tested once". Now, if he didn't have a pretty spotless record, I would have just gone in the other direction but I suppose it's plausible and he's not the only eBayer that claims to test bulbs before sending them out.

Just to give you some ideas, I've seen others selling these bulbs for not a whole lot more than this but to US buyers only, and they greatly inflate the price/shipping when I ask about it. Seems like most of the listings selling to Canada it ends up being twice as much as this or more.
Oh well... that's how it goes for us up here.

my dad's old '98 LS400, sold 2008, on original HID bulbs
honestly, it looks the same after 10+ years of daily usage.
that car didn't have DRL and my dad is a strange one to run his HID during the day so people can see him, it's a LOT of usage

I'm pretty sure if you were to take that car, look at the light, then change the bulbs and look again you'd notice a big difference. The degradation is slow and slight that over time you don't really notice anything changing... it's like losing your hearing, people think they can hear fine until they can't hear at all and they don't notice that they can't hear things they used to until they're told or start using hearing aids.

yes I am well aware, I've been involved in automotive lighting for many years..
all I am saying is, if you live in a city and not some rural country side where it's pitch black every night, I seriously don't think the degradation of output is an issue at all
