plastic gears....enough said. I can't count the number of posts I've read where somebody had to replace their mirror (which isn't cheap) because the gears were stripped.

yup, it shouldn't be hard. i will just say this is not the only item in the 3gs that i wonder "why" lexus did it this way

but with that said even if i have the feature in the gs, i don't know if i would activate it all the time. i had the ls460l and even with that car i didn't use it all the time. the 3gs is smaller and most of the time parking spaces aren't that small. to me this is more like a gadget.

and as some have mentioned, given how easy this can break over time (and more likely after warranty), nah...

 

i have read quite a few threads where people replaced their mirrors because the mirror tilting was dead. i don't think i have read much about the folding mirrors not working?

my sc430 both mirrors tilt down died and i got them replaced, and i have read similar problems on a lot of lexus models. but you sure about folding function?

regardless though, i agree it's not something i want to use every day
