Interior lighting & door lock questions
guys,
I have owned my 06 gs430 for 2 months now and I love the car but had a couple questions that have been brought up mainly by my wife during her use of the car.
1-Is there a switch or a panel to set the interior light settings? I know my old maxima and my wifes rx300 have overhead light plates and door plates but the interior on this car doesnt light up very brightly. We had an es350 for a loaner and when we got within 3 feet all the lights came on and it was great as you could see throughout the car and we never really paid much attention to our gs before. all comments and suggestions are appreciated
2-How close should the key fob be to the drivers door for it to unlock? it seems like I need to get my pant pocket right up at the door handle for it to recognize it and unlock the door when hand is placed inside handle? Is there a sensitivity switch?
thanks in advance!

I know if I drop something in the car at night that I can just forget about looking for it until the next day.
The lighting is definitely not practical but sure is eye-pleasing.

1) I have the exact same car and I find them eye pleasing at night. They are not meant for practical use, it's purpose is just to 'see'. And note what "The G Man" said, it glares and cast light on the glass when driving at night if they were any brighter. I would advice to put a LED flashlight somewhere in the car for those practical use purposes.
The only light setting is for the display panel and you can adjust that with the pop out box located on the left side of the steering wheel.
2) You can test it's range by slowly coming close to it at night. When it detect the key the light below the mirror will light up. Now this mirror light I wish it to be brighter. And like IXI187IXI said, it doesn't unlock by itself. You have to put your hand into the handle. You (having the key) can touch any passenger door handle to unlock all doors.
