Default Tinting Ideas

New to CL having just upgraded from an '02 ES 300 to a '07 GS 350 a week ago. I need to go get the car tinted and having a tough time figuring out what shade I want. Its silver with the light grey interior. I found this site looking for mod info. on the 3GS and have really enjoyed spending a week reading everyone's posts. I think I want to go with ceramic tint to make sure there is no electronic interference. I live in So. Cal so I may have to keep it legal to avoid costly fix it tickets. Curious about light tint on the front window or a darker visor tint. With the cost of ceramic I don't want to blow $350 bucks on a bad look. I would appreciate your opinions on an overall tint set up. Once I get it done I will post pics...

huber optik is a nice one but i cant seem to find one in my area that installs it on a car without taking a 2 hour drive.

Welcome to Club Lexus........interns of tints you can do 50% in the front windshield and it is very hard to notice even it has tint on it. And for the side and back you can think about doing 25% to 35%.

I went with the 3M tint, not sure what it was but it was part of te higher end stuff.

Go with 35% all around and a 50% in the front if ur gangsta. That's what I have on my silver/grey gs350. I can post up some pics if u wanna see what it will turn out like.

i am never a fan of different shades on side windows. i have huper optik 50% all around and i think the shade is very good. people can still see you and i never have problems with cops. huper optik is ceramic and they block a lot of heat, love them. if i do the front windshield i would go for 60%, i just want to block heat

for your car, you have lighter interior so you can go darker and still get away with it i think. of course it depends on what area you are in socal

I don t see the purpose of tinting a car and still being able to see in I have 50% on the windsheild and 20% on the sides and back and i have black interior if your interior is light you shouldn t have any problems. Where i live 35% is legal however your factory glass is already tinted 2 or 3% so when you add 35% tint you are still to dark and around here they have a special gun that is dead on when testing tint. I don t have any problems driving at night either

I'm just saying, tint on the windshield is illegal and some people get too worried about it over nothing.

thanks for the feedback guys... Could I trouble ek9vboi and Kyang91 to post a couple pics of your tints. I would like to see the difference between 35 and 25. I do like Ika's tint... its very pimp! haha

I plan to keep trollin the boards here... and really think its very cool how helpful everyone is here! Peace Out!

agree with most. my car is 50% all the way around and its perfect IMHO. enough tint for heat blockage and not enough to get harassed by the man in blue.

ive never liked cars that are blacked out. looks ghetto to me. and even though every owner that has they're car like that will tell you they dont have a problem seeing at night.......they are full of it. they do.

Totally agree with you man.

I hate the blacked out look, its very cheesy and played out now. Believe me, I used to be blacked out 15% all around on a coupe and it wasn't exactly convenient driving at night.

Now my GS has no tint on it and I actually like it that way. I might get 50% for protection from sun.
