Default Clear Bra question/s...

Im getting annoyed at the little stone chips defacing my front bumper.
I am considering a front clear bra applied.

Any reputable shops recommended around LA/OC area? Clear Bra brand??

What is the recommended curing/drying time after a front bumper paint job before having a Clear Bra installed??

Thanks.

check out our board sponsor Aerotect, pretty much everyone in socal go to them for clear bra.

i got mine done the day after I picked up the car, so i think u'll be fine with your paint, but usually 2 weeks to 1 month for fresh paint I believe.

http://www.aerotect.net/

they are the best! most of us use venture film

I'll have them work on the 3GS first, then the 997.

Excellent deal... i don't have to worry about quality of craftsmanship given the caliber of people who is vouching for their work

Very professional over the over phone (i forgot her name though).

My sincerest gratitude to whlkev and Henry/Rominl!!

**Rominl- the Yoda of hook-ups...LOL

I'm not a big fan of clear bra because it's so expensive. What you're getting for essentially close to $500 is a piece of thick saran wrap that will dry out and become opaque and/or yellow over time. I'd rather save the money and have the hood and fenders resprayed five years down the road rather than have to respray them anyways because the color underneath the wrap doesn't match.

Just my .02 cents.

When my toy was in a hit&run accident, my dealer repainted the bumper and installed the clear bra the vary next day. It has been almost 3 years, they still looked new!!!

FYI, personally I would order a kit from eBay and install them myself, only takes less than 3 hours by myself...and cost less than $60.

Wow. It is a good thing you have not had to take the film off. There is a good chance the paint will come off with the film.

clear bra is a no brainer. I didn't do it on my G35 and the hood looked like a starry night. I even had stone chips not the roof in front of the sunroof glass. AZ is insane with the rock chips.

that's the exact problem. if you have to take off the film the paint can easily come off with it. and also problem during install is if they have to pull out the film and reposition, might peel the paint too

i disagree. see link: http://www.tintcentre.ca/vancouver/paint_protection.php

exerpt from above link:

Will it turn yellow? What is the warranty?
3M warrants their film for a period of 2 years. Venture Tape has a lifetime warranty against turning yellow.

Will the paint under the film fade differently from the rest of the vehicle?
The Paint Protection Film contains only enough UV inhibitors that keep the film from turning yellow; this allows the paint under the film to fade evenly with the rest of your vehicle.
btw, if you can afford a CCX, $500 is a drop in the bucket!

yup, that's why they recommend 4 weeks for the paint to cure before adding clear bra.

I will take back my last message about being on it for almost 3 years, just remembered that clear bra was turning yellow, so Lexus replaced them under warranty.

As far as I can tell, no paint got peel off!!!
