Default Navigation on GS300 2006

I've search around the net to see the real picture of it in action because i wonder if it is as nice as my portable Garmin nuvi 360 with colors and all. Can someone confirm that the picture is nice and in color or just a link to youtube.

Also, is it as precise as the Garmin in direction and precision and have as much POI as the Garmin ?

thank you.

if you care on the quality and color of the screen, then 2007 is probably what you should look for. 2006 is still gen4 nav and the resolution isn't that high. i am not sure how it compares to garmin in that area though.

I completly agree with rominl. I've seen both in action while I was in search for my car and the quality of the gen5 (2007+) is far superior.

unfortunately, my incoming GS300 is a 2006. Precision wise, how about it vs the Garmin ?

I'd say the Garmin is far superior. The Toyota nav systems really suck, IMO. Honda's system is much more user friendly. Although the Toyota UI is better I think. I rank harming and Honda's UI user friendly.

POI you can update, the latest dvd is 9.1 i believe. i don't know how 9.1 compares to garmin, probably garmin is still better

but the gen4 interface, there is no way to upgrade

my question is, will the dealer update the navi with the latest 9.1 ver? is that included in the warranty or any other service updates?

thx

Not included. Out of pocket expense.

Just to be clear. You will have to buy the upgrade DVD. It's not included in warranty as others have said. The dealer will install the new dvd. Some will do it for good will I imagine, most will charge a fee. IMO there is no reason to pay the dealer to do the upgrade. it's as easy as ejecting the old DVD and inserting the new one. Same as you would any dvd player.

They make 9.1 for the Gen4. You can get it from Sewell for around $200
