Default Stealership Screwups

Hey guys - I took my car in to dealership for its 20K maintenance. The good news is they fixed that annoying cold start engine knock that was happening occasionally. The bad news is that they:

1. Unrolled my fenders, so now I'm rubbing like crazy and shaving rubber off my tires like carrot sticks.

2. They did a frikin car wash, where they put some kind of polish or some **** on my wheels and now I have this milky spotty residue all over the wheels that I can't get off.

Do any of you know how to get rid of the spotty milky residue on the wheels?

where on the wheel is the damage? i'd do mother's wax metal polish and try to polish it away *shrugs*

Um... better go back to the dealer and make them fix the wheels. I'm sure a few members will pop up and tell you that they used the wrong cleaner on your wheels... mainly the chrome lips.

not a good sign... those are work t1s? the lips are anodized... if they are damaged, there is no way you can reverse it unfortunately

i would not use metal polish. no matter what you do you don't want to sand down the finish further. metal polish will work on bare metal, but on anodized or clear coated finish, you probably will do more harm than good

try some Goo Gone (you can pick up at home depot). get the spray bottle (great on golf clubs, too).

question. can you provide specs on your car? specifically wheel/tire size, springs or coils (type)?

The wheel damage is mostly on the chrome finish of the lips. I am sure they used the wrong cleaner on the wheels which left this milky kind of residue or blemish in the polish.

If I rub real hard with my fingers, it seems the oil gets rid of the blemish, at least temporarily. I haven't tried to do a large area yet, 1) because I don't want blisters on all my fingers if there is some easier fix and 2) just don't have the time.

I talked to a friend at the dealership about it, hopefully they can do something, but I doubt they will pay for the damage, since it has been a while since the service, they are going to claim they didn't do the damage.

Yes, they are the Varianza T1s, and luckily I don't see the damage on the spokes, just on the chrome lips. I will check in more detail tomorrow.

+1... Unrolled the fenders? weird... I would have thought they knew it was rolled because the big wheels are so obvious...

Yeah, I would take it to the dealer and complain.

The last two times I took my car in for service they scratched the **** out of the body and left oily residue on the windshield and white spots on the paint. I mentioned it to my service rep at the lest visit and he didnt bother to even look at it

LOL.... it's kinda funny how they DID unroll ur fenders.... think lexus would be smart enough not to embezzle in that area =/

i can just imagine him riding home going, WTF is rubbing? n then when he arrives, looking under , he goes "THOSE BASTARDS!"

i thought this was deja vu, and i was reading an old thread again.


some other guy had the same wheel stains several months ago.

it's really not the dealership's fault to not know how to wash these wheels

is this a unique problem with Work wheels only?

are there other brands' anodized wheels that do this?


would wd40 or dishwashing detergent get it out?

oil is not a fix, it just hides the blemish i think. if you can't use water and cloth to clean it, i still think the anodized finish is damaged
