Default your mpg

i made the first long distance drive last night on the 300 awd. i had a total of three persons in the car whose weights probably totaled around 450 lbs. there was no luggage or anything else that would've weighed more than 10 lbs or so. the drive was a traffic-free drive - 120 miles each way, so 240 miles RT. at the end, my trip computer said 26.5 mpg. before leaving for this trip only 15 miles or so of local driving were put on the car. i averaged around 70 mph i think, although i hit 93 mph at one point.

i was expecting/hoping for something better - perhaps around 28 mpg. i'm sure if i toned down my acceleration i could've hit 27 but i don't want to compromise my experience for 1 mpg.

what kind of mpg does everyone else get?

I live in California and purchased my GS350 in Arizona. On the tank that I drove home on, I managed about 28.5mpg according to the trip computer. Using total miles divided by amount of gallons to fill up when I got home, I calculated 27.5mpg. It's about a 330 mile trek.

It is super dependent on driving habits, if I put it on cruise at 65mph, and do a beach trip, I get 34mpg on the highway, but damnit, it is boring as hell. I will typically fill up before I get on the highway and put it on cruise there and back, then my city routine drops it down. Driving at 75 or so, it is around 27-30. My commute is mostly city and average about 20mpg.

i've done ~265 miles from queens to syracuse and consistently gotten a little above 28 mpg. i think i set the cruise control at around 75-80 mph and use that almost the entire trip. as for combined city and highway driving i get around 22-23 mpg. i have a 300awd too.

(btw i friggin' love how fuel efficient the GS is)

Last time I took a trip to see my buddy in OK (about 220 miles trip), MPG surprised me!!!

From Dallas TX to Edmund OK, travelled average around 80MPH --> got 28~29 on MPG.

Back from Edmund OK to Dallas TX, travelled average around 100MPH (in between I was driving at max speed @ 140 for about 20~30min, mine gets cut-off at 141) --> got 24~25 on MPG.

I only wished it is that efficient during loacal driving, only averging between 20~22 (24~25, when wifely is on board)!!!

I hve 08 GS350 AWD, use premium gas. I average about 21 in the city, 25-26 on the freeway. On my last trip to Seattle I had 29.2 on the trip computer for the forst 150 miles, then it dropped to 28.7. Speeds around 75 MPH.

BTW, the trip computer on my car is fairly accurate. I checked it numerous times during refueling, it's always within .03 MPG

I can usually get 28 mpg or slightly higher when I drive from AZ to CA. Its amazing that this car has 43 more hp than my g35 had stock and still gets 8 more mpg

my best was 31 on a full tank, but around a half tank it dropped to 28. this was on a 400 mile road trip, though. normal driving (work and back) had me at roughly 26. since i put on my wheels i am averaging around 23-24, sometimes as low as 21. tank went from 405 per fill up to 388. i average 75 on the road trips, and 60 on day to day driving with a lot of stop and go. have an 06 gs300 as well, with fujita intake.

+1.. I was on the fence between GS or M35. Due to crappy MPG on M35 I went with the GS.

I average 28 MPG, this is based off of Milage recorded on one tank divided by gallons used to fill up tank. The trip computer tends to over estimate it's calculations. 80/20 Freeway/Surface streets.

That was another burning question I was thinking about. Swapping out your stock wheels to larger ones affect MPGs that much? I have OEM 17" wheels thinking about 19s or 20s.
