Sun Roof rattle fixed !!!!!!!
Like a few other members I had tis annoying sun roof rattle. To my knowledge I am one of the first to actaully pin point the source and to have it fixed.
First of all the noise is coming from the rear right corner of the sun roof frame assembly. When I took my car in recently for a new dash I showed my service advisor and he put it on the list as well. He told me the frame of the sun roof was lose and had to be replaced or adjusted. They were going to order a new frame and assembly but the service shop manager said it can be adjusted. To do this the headliner was removed , the frame tightened, and the headliner reinstalled. They did it efficiently and with no interior issue. (I looked at everything you could imagine). In the end Lexus took my car apart ( dash and headliner ) and the car was put back together perfectly. I am impressed.
To all of the members with the sun roof rattle ( especially the dropped GS' with the 30 profile tires at 44 psi) there is a fix.
I LOVE LEXUS AND LEXUS SERVICE EVEN MORE

Good to hear! I had this happen twice on a car many years back. I wonder if you hit it with loctite that will help?
I noticed on a few GS locally that the upper left roof by the moonroof has a dent in the roof. Looks to be from too much force or pressure from the moonroof?? Does any others have this.

the one thing i hate about removing the headliner is that the service workers always leave finger indentations when they snap the headliner back into the clips.
happened on my former car

I had mine checked out Thursday for a rattle in the sunroof rail (aluminum pieces). He said the clips were plastic so no way to tighten them up, but he cut and installed some felt above the clips and below the rail. Dead silent now.
I also got the $1280 rear view mirror replaced for the vibration w/ roof open TSB.
I had a dash rattle they couldn't recreate, but figure it'll return this winter and I'm under warranty until March, 2010. Should be enough time for them to tackle it when it's more obvious.

there is a TSB out for the dash rattle so I would think thats all you need to tell them. I have posted the TSB number last night on the " dash tsb " thread
