Yeah, but cutting the fronts is a little iffy to me because the metal is already thin. I would prefer to cut/shave the front as well but if you roll them then u can always tuck the liner between the fold depending on how much rolling you did.

Oh yeah, rolling can lead to pulling.

Dan,

I'm going to test fit the wheels this week if I have some time. I have a very conservative offset, so I may be able to get away with no cutting, but who knows. Let me know when. After the new year I should have time. I also have all the tools and plenty of garage space at the house.

Sounds good Kris, let's do this bro. BTW, what are your sizes, offsets, and tire sizes?

yup, agreed. that's why for the front i have just stayed with rolling. the fact that i can use the rolled lip to sandwiched the liner so i don't need to do any extra work, that alone is worth it

Rebirth...

So what other areas inside the back wheel well would a 275/35/20 on a 20x10 40+ rub? Do you have (or can you take) any pictures of all obsticals?

you rub mainly because you have overspec tires. i think the corner where bumper meets fender that's where you rub. 10+40 is not that aggressive, i think if you take off the plastic trim and should have enough clearance already, otherwise some shaving is all you need

You are rubbing on the fender lip and probably the screws holding the rubber fender liner. Here is something i never thought about too much when i went and ordered new tires. I have TSW 20x10 +40 on a
Falken FK452 275/30/20, had no rubbing issues. Well when i switched brands to Continental DWS 275/30/20, it rubbed due to the tire being too wide. I couldn't get myself to cut my fenders so i re-ordered 265/30/20 and now OK.

This is kind of what I thought also. The interesting thing is that these exact wheels were on swtjlsy's GS350 and he was also running an inch lower in the back and had no rubbing issues under full load. He suspects it is the bolts that rominl is talking about. I am going to try his suggestion first before I do any cutting. If that doesn't work, I'll probably switch to a 275/30 or 265/30. I just don't want to have to switch all 4 tires out if I can avoid it. I'm running a 245/35 in the front and going any lower than 275/30 will under spec the back tire and make the front taller.

Put a 245/30 on it and call it a day. Your not running any camber so your tires shouldn't wear to fast at all

just take out the black plastic trim and see first. that's easy enough (just 4-5 screws) and you can always put it back

Shouldn t take more than 1/2 hour per panel so it really depends on the labor rate all 4 anywhere from 150-300 i would imagine!

Default Excellent post and write-up Rominl!

Excellent post and write-up Rominl!

I just installed my new wheels (the 20 inch Individ Logic with 245/35 in the front and 275/30 in the rears) yesterday and they go on the car easily, however when I hit any bump or undulation in the road the rear outer part of the tires are rubbing on the fender lining.

After reading your write-up, it appears my problem can be easily fixed by heating the lining and pushing it up.

Is my understanding correct?

The fronts rub but only on sharp turns so I may live with that as they don't rub when I hit any bumps.

I also just swapped out the Tein Flex for the Tanabe DF210 springs and KYB GR2 shocks.
