DIY: fender rolling thread and discussion
#31
I learned the hard way when I was rolling the fronts. At a certain point when rolling, the tab got in the way which sort of forced the fender roller to push/pull it out further. If I would have known, I would have bent the tab forward, away from the fender and then roll instead of rolling and then the tab pushing into the fender itself.
Riding low? All the wheels I've been on have had weak offsets. Maybe it's my tire selection and the width of the rim. No stretch, which in turn could be a reason. Also, keep in mind that I've been on DF210s all this time till recently. Now I'm around a 3" or so drop.
Might have to cut the bracket and relocate the bolt holding the bumper. I don't know how those guys with agressive offsets and chucky tires do it. Oh yeah, can't for get riding low.

I agree with Mike, I've seen a few cars on air when they are raised up and driving... DO NOT WANT! It's not even about the money either, just the sight of a nice car rolling on the highway... sitting 4x4 fails.

HOLY nasty driveway entrance! Yeah, I remember the driveways of Burbank, fail!!! Never understood why they created driveways like that, I guess I'm lucky to be in FL. We have slightly better entrances. lol

Yea my current residence has the worst driveway with the entrance and the immediate incline. That pic doesnt show how bad it really is at all. Out of everyone in my neighborhood I have the only non-lowered car friendly driveway and my rental property has the the "perfect" driveway. Go figure...
Think I can get the city to pay to redo my driveway

So...I had an itch to put summer rims back on the car. When I had the fronts off I pulled the plastic liner out and noticed, during the winter, 2 spots I rub are were there is this huge metal bracket from the fender up in the front corner for that plastic tab from the front bumper. "looks" like I would have to pretty much take the hole thing off. I thought it was similar to the tab in the rear that holds the bumper in place but guessed wrong. I think I have no choice other then to raise the car and stretch my front tire some :UGH:
Here are pics from just trying to install and if I turn my wheels up front it lifts the car up from hitting the fender...

These write ups are BIG HELP...I just slapped on TSW Thruxtons today and was listening for rubbing all the way home...indeed the rears are rubbing whenever I hit any bumps or take fairly strong turns. The fronts seem fine. I wonder what the easiest solution is for me here...I'm running 20x8.5+40mm in the front (with no rub) and 20x10+35mm (with slight rub) in the rear. All four are running 245/35/20 rubber with the rears stretched every so slightly. Any thoughts guys?
